A new lawsuit is again calling into question Uber’s background check policies and how it monitors its drivers. On Tuesday, two anonymous women filed a complaint in California against Uber claiming the ridesharing company had falsely presented its service as safe to passengers. Uber loses court appeal against drivers' rights

Taxi firm Uber has lost an appeal against a ruling that its drivers should be classed as workers rather than self-employed. Last year a tribunal ruled drivers James Farrar and Yaseen Aslam were Uber staff and entitled to holiday pay, paid rest breaks and the minimum wage. Uber: London mayor Sadiq Khan backs talks after firm's apology

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has asked the city’s transport regulator to be available to meet Uber’s boss after the firm apologised. Uber chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi said he was sorry for the “mistakes we’ve made” after the taxi-hailing firm lost its London licence.
