The EU is to begin preparing for its post-Brexit trade negotiations with the UK, while refusing to discuss the matter with the British government. The hosts of the Oscars are to hold emergency talks to consider the future role of film mogul Harvey Weinstein following claims of sexual misconduct. “Decisive steps forward” have been made in the latest round of UK-EU talks, Brexit Secretary David Davis has said. Mr Davis was speaking at the end of the first talks since Theresa May’s speech in Italy last week, in which she said the UK wanted a two-year transition. London Mayor Sadiq Khan has asked the city’s transport regulator to be available to meet Uber’s boss after the firm apologised. Uber chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi said he was sorry for the “mistakes we’ve made” after the taxi-hailing firm lost its London licence.
