Google struggles to increase workforce diversity

Melinda Gates: We need ‘more diverse teams’ Google hasn’t made much progress on diversity. On Thursday, it released its annual diversity report — and it showed little improvement over last year. The tech giant still overwhelmingly employs white men. About 69% of its total workforce is male, and 56% of all employees are white. Men dominate leadership positions at Google(GOOGL, Tech30), too. Only 25% of women fill these roles, and only 20% of women are in technical jobs like engineering and programming. That’s up 1% from last year. Meanwhile, the ...

Media playback is unsupported on your device Jeremy Corbyn was unable to put a cost on Labour’s plan for free childcare for 1.3m youngsters during an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour. “It will cost… it will obviously cost a lot to do so, we accept that,” he said, when quizzed about the figures by Emma Barnett. LeBron's bizarre, rim-rattling struggles from the line

This story appears in ESPN The Magazine’s May 29 Issue. Subscribe today! LeBron James shouldn’t be shooting this free throw. It’s Dec. 31 in Charlotte, with the Cavs up 114-104, and James is walking toward the charity stripe to shoot the technical. Based on pure math, this is a bad call. The four-time MVP is in the middle of the worst free throw shooting season of his career, converting just 67.9 percent. There are better options available to the Cavs — like, for example, four-time All-Star Kevin Love, a career ...

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild really struggles on the Wii U

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has received an incredible critical response over the last week, and it’s easy to see why. Nintendo finally shook free from many self-imposed constraints, and made something very different. Unfortunately, the lackluster frame rate can make it hard to enjoy. Running the new Zelda on the Switch has seen mixed results, but the Wii U version of the game is particularly disappointing for many Nintendo diehards. On the Wii U, we’ve spent about six or seven hours around the Great Plateau and ...

The Warriors played with little force or focus as LeBron James and Kyrie Irving stomped their way back into this series. The Warriors lacked Draymond Green, which makes this performance somewhat explainable, ...
