Lowe: Seven insights from Spurs-Rockets after the Game 6 wipeout

11:21 AM ET Seven random takeaways from the Spurs’ Game 6 beatdown of a gross Rockets team that did not show up: • In the best chess match of the playoffs, Gregg Popovich outcoached Mike D’Antoni, and outfoxed James Harden in a Mensa-level battle of wits. Houston’s offense didn’t wilt in these playoffs. It didn’t thrive, either. The Rockets scored 107.2 points per 100 possessions combined against the Thunder and Spurs, about 4.5 points lower than their fantastic regular-season mark. Again, that’s not some abysmal collapse against a decent Thunder ...

Star's seven Earth-sized worlds set record

Astronomers have detected a record seven Earth-sized planets orbiting a single star. The researchers say that all seven could potentially support liquid water on the surface, depending on the other properties of those planets. But only three are within the conventional “habitable” zone where life is considered a possibility. The compact system of exoplanets orbits Trappist-1, a low-mass, cool star located 40 light-years away from Earth. The planets were detected using Nasa’s Spitzer Space Telescope and several ground-based observatories are described in the journal Nature. Where should we look for ...

NASA has announced the discovery of an amazing planetary system in orbit of a nearby star consisting of seven Earth-like planets in the habitable zone. The star known as TRAPPIST-1 is a mere 39.13 light years away. It’s much smaller and cooler than our sun, but all seven of those planets are clustered in very close, which would make for an incredible view. TRAPPIST-1 is what’s know ...

GPs in England must keep their surgeries open for longer to meet demand from patients, or risk losing funding, Downing Street has warned. The British Medical Association accused ministers of “scapegoating” doctors. Downing Street issued a statement saying surgeries should do more to ensure they offer appointments in the ...
