Eggs scandal: 700,000 sent to UK but risk is 'unlikely'

About 700,000 eggs have been sent to the UK from potentially contaminated Dutch farms, up from an early estimate of 21,000, the food watchdog has said. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said this represented 0.007% of eggs eaten in the UK each year and that any risk to public health was “very unlikely”. HMP The Mount disturbance: Riot staff sent to tackle violence

Sources earlier told BBC home affairs correspondent Danny Shaw that one wing of HMP The Mount in Hertfordshire and half of another wing had been “lost”. Charlie Gard: Death threats sent to Great Ormond Street staff

Staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital have received death threats over the treatment of baby Charlie Gard. The hospital said police had been called after families were “harassed” and “unacceptable behaviour” was recorded in the hospital. It is involved in a legal battle to remove life support from the 11-month-old, who has a rare genetic disorder. The election commission in Wisconsin has received a request for a recount of the votes in the state narrowly won by Donald Trump more than two weeks ago. The request was filed by Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein. Dr Stein has also pledged to file vote recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania. Labour leadership: Ballot papers for contest to be sent out

Ballot papers will be issued later to nearly two thirds of a million people with a vote in the Labour leadership contest. The party said the number is made up of about 350,000 members, 129,000 who paid £25 each to be registered supporters, and 168,000 from other organisations.
