The case was dropped last year. South Yorkshire Police had already apologised “wholeheartedly for the additional ...

Consumer Reports Gives Tesla Model S Partial Credit for a Partial Fix

Consumer Reports restored one of the two ratings points lost by the Tesla Model S when its automatic emergency braking wasn’t enabled. Tesla in April sent an over-the-air update that enabled the feature, but only up to 28 mph, not the 90 mph Tesla says the car is capable of. As a result, this week, CR gave Tesla half credit (one point), but that’s not enough to regain the top spot in the rankings. The scoring reduction and restoration also affects the Model X, which is mired in the lower rank ...

Intel Puts the Kibosh on Reports It Will License AMD GPU Technology

One of the more intriguing (and if we’re being honest, slightly weird) rumors from last year was that AMD and Intel might cooperate on a GPU patent-sharing deal, or possibly a direct design agreement in which AMD would build GPUs for its largest competitor in the CPU space. The only reason we gave the idea any consideration at all was because AMD had reorganized its graphics unit into the Radeon Technology Group (RTG) specifically so that it could have more freedom to pursue ideas and potential revenue sources. A custom ...

Tired of Waiting for Update, Consumer Reports Yanks Tesla Model S’ Top Rating

Don’t mess with the press. Tesla learned that lesson the hard way this past week. After delaying for months a software update enabling automatic emergency braking on Consumer Reports‘ brand new Tesla Model S 60D (and other Teslas sold since October 2016), CR ran out of patience. Unlike most Tesla customers, CR buys printer’s ink by the barrel and has a prominent website. Stall them at your peril. Wednesday, Consumer Reports knocked 2 points off the score of the Model S, dropping its score among luxury sedans from 87 points ...
