UK population to pass 70m in 2029, ONS projections say

The UK’s population is set to exceed 70 million before the end of the next decade, according to the Office for National Statistics. The UK population was estimated to stand at 65.6 million in 2016. The ONS projections are now for a 3.6 million, or 5.5%, increase over the 10 years to 2026, with the 70m mark being passed in the middle of 2029. NCAR to get new SGI supercomputer to sharpen climate change projections

The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) will be working with the venerable SGI on a new system to develop more advanced climate and weather models.
