Arkansas executes Ledell Lee in first death penalty use in 12 years

It came after the US Supreme Court rejected a challenge arguing Arkansas was unfairly rushing several executions before its supply of a lethal injection drug expires at the end of April. Deutsche Bank agrees $7.2bn penalty with US regulators

Germany’s Deutsche Bank says it has agreed a $ 7.2bn settlement with US authorities over an investigation into mortgage-backed securities. The sum, which needs final approval, is far lower than the $ 14bn the US had asked the bank to pay in September. Motorists caught using mobile phones while driving are to face “much tougher penalties”, with fines and points doubling, the UK government has said. Russia will be disqualified from Euro 2016 if there is further crowd trouble at their remaining tournament matches. Uefa, European football’s governing body, has given Russia a suspended disqualification and a 150,000 euro (£119,000) fine for disorder in the game against England in Marseille. Scottish Power to pay £18m penalty

Scottish Power is to pay £18m for customer service failings linked to a new computer system. The energy regulator, Ofgem, said the firm failed to treat its customers fairly, with inadequate call handling, complaint resolution and billing. More than 300,000 customers received late bills. The £18m will be paid to vulnerable customers and charity. Ofgem said Scottish Power had improved its customer service and co-operated during the 18 month investigation.
