Police investigating the disappearance of teenager Gaia Pope have arrested a 49-year-old man on suspicion of murder. The man, from the Swanage area of Dorset, is believed to be known to the 19-year-old, who has been missing from the town since Tuesday, 7 November. A man arrested as part of an investigation into the far-right group, National Action, has been charged with encouragement to commit murder. The BBC understands the charge against Christopher Lythgoe, 31, from Cheshire, relates to Labour MP Rosie Cooper. He is one of six men charged with being members of the banned group. Parsons Green attack: Man in court charged with attempted murder

An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder in connection with the bomb attack on a London Tube at Parsons Green. Ahmed Hassan, of Sunbury, Surrey, is also accused of causing an explosion likely to endanger life or cause serious injury on 15 September. Further appeal over 1996 murder of 14-year-old Caroline Glachan

Police re-investigating the murder of a schoolgirl 21 years ago have made a further appeal for information. Caroline Glachan, 14, was found dead on the banks of the River Leven in Dunbartonshire on 25 August 1996, about a mile from her home in Renton. An Oxford University employee has been charged with murdering a 26-year-old in Chicago. Somerville College’s Andrew Warren, 56, and US professor Wyndham Lathem, 42, are accused of fatally stabbing Trenton Cornell-Duranleau in Mr Lathem’s flat. Chicago Police charged the pair with first-degree murder after they were returned to the city from California. The entertainer Michael Barrymore is to get “more than nominal damages” after claiming his wrongful arrest by police destroyed his career. The 65-year-old was detained 10 years ago on suspicion of the rape and murder of Stuart Lubbock in Essex. An Oxford University employee and a US professor suspected of killing a man in Chicago have handed themselves in. Somerville College senior treasury assistant Andrew Warren, 56, handed himself in nearly 2,000 miles away in San Francisco while Prof Wyndham Lathem, 42, gave himself up in Oakland. Manchester tram death: Woman cries in court over murder charge

A woman wept as she appeared in court charged with murder after a man was hit by a tram and died at Manchester’s Victoria station. Charrissa Loren Brown-Wellington, 31, was in tears in the dock at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court.
