Make it 14: Celtics keep win streak alive against defending champs

9:55 PM ET BOSTON — Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr arrived to his pregame media session in Boston on Thursday night to find an overflow throng of media on hand for a battle of streaking NBA conference leaders. Asked about the significance of the matchup, Kerr deadpanned, “Huge game. Huge. The fate of the universe rests upon the results of tonight’s Celtics-Warriors matchup.” In what was billed as a possible preview of the NBA Finals, the Warriors grew increasingly frustrated in Thursday’s loss to the Celtics with what they ...

Follow live: Brees, Saints look to keep rolling

The Bills defense looks like a shell of the unit that led the league in points allowed through Week 4. Through 21 minutes of game action Sunday, they’ve allowed 156 yards and 14 points to the Saints. Run defense has been particularly spotty — the Saints have averaged 6.2 yards per rush, partly because of poor tackling. Mike Rodak, ESPN Staff Writer Let’s block ads! (Why?) www.espn.com – TOP

Lowe: Clips keep winning without CP3 and start work on 'unfinished business'

8:20 AM ET If you think the Clippers don’t matter in Los Angeles — that they have too much ugly baggage to generate fan interest in a Lakers town — grab coffee with Blake Griffin in Beverly Hills. As we chat in the corner of a small coffee shop, two teenagers walk by outside and spot him. They call friends. Those friends call more friends. Ten minutes later, an employee is herding 50 teenagers out the door; more wait on the sidewalk. As Griffin walks to his car, they encircle ...

Why do European airlines keep going bust?

Monarch stops trading, flights canceled Three European airlines have gone belly up since August. Air Berlin and struggling Italian national carrier Alitalia were the first two dominoes to fall. The third — Britain’s Monarch — halted operations on Monday, leaving 110,000 passengers stranded abroad. Three high profile failures in just 50 days has raised questions about the strength of Europe’s aviation industry, which has been buffeted by fierce competition and shifting business models. Analysts say that more losers could emerge in the coming months as smaller, weaker players come under ...

Can Russell Westbrook keep his OKC superteam together this time?

3:18 PM ET OKLAHOMA CITY — It was mid-August and Paul George was holding a celebrity fishing tournament in Los Angeles. He had only been a member of the Oklahoma CIty Thunder for a little more than a month, but a large contingent of the organization made its way to participate — GM Sam Presti and assistant GM Troy Weaver, head coach Billy Donovan and basically every support staffer. Only two teammates, though, made an appearance: Josh Huestis and … Russell Westbrook. Westbrook was even the first to arrive. A ...

Packers keep getting hurt, keep winning — but for how much longer?

2:39 AM ET GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay Packers keep losing players, and they keep winning. Yet after Thursday’s 35-14 win over the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field, where the Packers lost one of their best receivers and almost ran out of running backs, who knows how much longer the winning will last? At some point, coach Mike McCarthy might run out of players who can play Super Bowl-caliber football. Yes, the Packers survived against a punchless team with an ineffective quarterback who lacks a legitimate No. 1 ...

Brian Stelter: Why newsrooms must keep fact-checking Trump

Stelter: Media must keep fact-checking Trump I didn’t think we’d have time for this segment on Sunday’s “Reliable Sources.” We already had more than an hour’s worth of media stories to cover. So I didn’t think we’d have time to cover President Trump’s latest errors and exaggerations. But in our show meeting on Saturday, we decided we would make the time. And that was the point of this segment — journalists must keep making time to point out Trump’s fact-free assertions. Why? Because the Trump White House’s credibility crisis affects ...

Quest: CEOs keep speaking out. Will Trump listen?

Corporate America is making a point. Is anyone listening? Quest’s Profitable Moment For the second time in a month, the world’s corporate leaders are picking up the baton where politicians can’t — or won’t. President Trump’s decision to repeal the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — risking the deportation of 800,000 young adults who were born outside the United States but have lived there most of their lives — was met with swift condemnation by prominent executives of all trades. Mark Zuckerberg called it a “sad day for the ...
