Here’s What It Takes to Run Games at 16K Resolution

This site may earn affiliate commissions from the links on this page. Terms of use. For most of us, game resolutions increase fairly slowly, one periodic monitor purchase at a time. Ten years ago, 1080p was the new hotness; I was personally using a 22-inch Acer with a 1680×1050 resolution, and wondering what all the fuss was about with 1080p compared with 720p. Now, 4K displays are becoming more common, with additional support for features like HDR, upcoming support for FreeSync, and even a whisper of a promise OLED technology ...

The Evil Within 2 Gives Players Greater Freedom To Customize Their Experience, Here’s How

Bethesda has shared some new details about its upcoming survival-horror game, The Evil Within 2. In a post on its blog, the publisher shed more light on the game’s customization system, which sounds considerably more flexible than its precedessor’s. As before, players will be able to customize both protagonist Sebastian as well as his arsenal of weapons. This time, however, they’ll use separate resources to upgrade the two. Green Gel, which customized both Sebastian and his gear in the previous game, now only upgrades the hero. Weapons, meanwhile, can now ...

Here’s what it’s like to use a Windows 98 PC in 2017

Computers are much more advanced than they were even a few years ago, but of course we all like to complain about the dumb things they sometimes do. It’s easy to forget how clunky things used to be, though. Sometimes you have to remember where you came from to appreciate what you have, so one brave (and possibly foolish) YouTuber tried to use a late 90s PC running Windows 98 as a full-time machine. It works, but it’s also broken in some interesting ways. OldTech81 opted to use a computer ...

Microsoft will unveil Scorpio on June 11: Here’s what we’d like to see

Microsoft has announced it will take the lid off Scorpio at its E3 conference on June 11, four years after the Xbox One got taken apart by Sony during E3 2013. Scorpio, in many ways, is Microsoft’s first real chance to clean up the Xbox One baggage the company has been dragging around for nearly four years. Microsoft’s early plans for the Xbox One were vastly different from what Sony offered with the PlayStation 4. Where Sony went simple and focused on the “It plays games,” message, Microsoft went broad. ...

Star Wars: Episode VIII is now ‘The Last Jedi’ — here’s what that could mean

Star Wars: Episode VIII now has an official title and the Internet is buzzing about what it might mean. The upcoming film will also apparently be Carrie Fisher’s last appearance in the franchise (more on that in a moment), and will be titled Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Before anyone panics, remember “Jedi” is both singular and plural — “Last” Jedi doesn’t mean that only Luke or Rey survive the film, it just means that, well, we’re obviously still pretty low on Force users. According to director Rian Johnson, the ...
