Wayne Rooney charged with drink-driving

Everton striker Wayne Rooney has been charged with drink-driving, Cheshire Police have said. Rooney was arrested shortly after 02:00 BST after officers stopped a black VW Beetle on Altrincham Road, Wilmslow. Cheshire Police said Rooney, 31, had been charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit. The ex-England captain has been released on bail and is due to appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court later this month. Man charged over Buckingham Palace incident

A man has been charged after an incident near Buckingham Palace where three police officers were injured. Mohiussunath Chowdhury, 26, of Luton, was charged under the Terrorism Act 2006 for “engaging in conduct in preparation for giving effect to his intention to commit an act or acts of terrorism”. Two lorry drivers have been charged in connection with a crash on the M1 in which eight people died and three were left with life-threatening injuries. Oxford University employee charged with Chicago murder

An Oxford University employee has been charged with murdering a 26-year-old in Chicago. Somerville College’s Andrew Warren, 56, and US professor Wyndham Lathem, 42, are accused of fatally stabbing Trenton Cornell-Duranleau in Mr Lathem’s flat. Chicago Police charged the pair with first-degree murder after they were returned to the city from California. Romford doctor Manish Shah charged with 118 sexual offences

A doctor from east London has been charged with 118 sexual offences, the Met Police has said. Manish Shah, of Brunel Close, Romford, is accused of 65 counts of assault by penetration and 52 counts of sexual assault. A 16-year-old boy who was arrested in connection with five acid attacks in London on Thursday has been charged with 15 offences, police have said.
