Government bid to delay air pollution plan fails

The UK Government has lost a court bid to delay publication of its air pollution strategy, and must now release it before the June election. Courts had given the government until Monday 24 April to set out draft guidelines to tackle illegal levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) pollution. Arrest after incident in Whitehall

A man has been arrested by armed police after an incident in Whitehall, near Parliament. A witness described seeing two knives on the ground, one of which he described as a large bread knife. A Metropolitan Police statement said there were no injuries in the incident close to the junction of Parliament Street and Westminster Bridge Road.
