Manchester tram death: Woman cries in court over murder charge

A woman wept as she appeared in court charged with murder after a man was hit by a tram and died at Manchester’s Victoria station.

Charrissa Loren Brown-Wellington, 31, was in tears in the dock at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court.

Philip Carter, 30, who was named in court, was struck by the tram at about 19:50 BST on Sunday.

Ms Brown-Wellington, who wore a red jumper and grey tracksuit bottoms, was remanded in custody.

She is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday.
