How Mr. Robot Can Save Itself In Season 3

Mr. Robot returned to television this week, bringing audiences back into the anxiety-ridden reality of hacker extraordinaire Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek). After the series suffered a Season 2 slump–buckling a bit under the weight of the increasingly layered, nuanced world Sam Esmail created–it’s hard not to wonder if the show can now reclaim a bit of the brilliance that made Season 1 so compelling. When the series premiered in 2015, the story introduced audiences to social outcast Alderson as he worked to make sense of his budding relationship with the ...

RPCS3 Emulator Turns Old PS3 Games Into Works of Art

This site may earn affiliate commissions from the links on this page. Terms of use. For many years, PlayStation 3 emulation was a contradiction in terms. Sony’s unique CPU architecture, known as the Cell Broadband Engine, is fundamentally different than any other CPU that’s ever come to market. While the Xbox 360 and PS3 share some DNA, Cell was legendarily difficult to optimize even when running native code. The developers at the RPCS3 project have gotten the PS3 working in emulation, however, and they’ve just added major upscaling features that ...

Last year, Nintendo’s NES Classic proved to be a decent little modding system, provided you could find one at retail. While the Allwinner R16 SoC isn’t particularly powerful by modern standards, a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU is far more horsepower than you need to run NES games. The Super NES Classic that Nintendo released last month uses exactly the same SoC, with the same controller outputs and the same ports. You can even plug an ...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a major blockbuster last year, but the film ultimately raised more questions than it answered. We don’t yet know why Luke’s Jedi academy was destroyed, why he later went into self-imposed, exile on Ahch-To, why his nephew Kylo Ren fell to the Dark Side, why Han and Leia were estranged, or the history of the new Emperor stand-in, Supreme Leader Snoke. A new trailer for Episode VIII dropped last ...
